Very kind and provided a detailed explanation of my condition(s). Knowing that I was being overloaded with information at the time, Miss Barney provided me with extremely helpful written material. On a return visit, she was happy to answer all my questions – no matter how silly they may have been!

Since my early 20’s I’ve been plagued with various gynaecological issues culminating in painful periods, peri menopausal symptoms etc. Having seen other positive reviews I finally pressed to be referred to Miss Barney this year. She is hands down the most kind compassionate Dr I have ever encountered. She takes time to examine you fully without feeling rushed, she explained all of my conditions and recommended a full hysterectomy this summer. She, the Spire team and her secretary Gemma couldn’t have been more supportive during my consultation, operation and recovery. I cannot thank Miss Barney enough for her personable, caring and reassuring approach and her second to none care of me.

Both Miss Barney and Dr Sadler {Consultant Anaesthetist} were very thorough, caring and attentive. They listened to me and explained everything in detail
Dr Barney performed an anterior repair operation which was successful, she also helped me with medication for the menopause. She understands and listens to your concerns and I would recommend her to friends and family.

Miss Barney was very good with understanding what was wrong from my first appointment and had my procedure done within in very good time after my first appointment. She explained everything to me so I knew what was happening and wasn’t worried.
I was very worried about the whole process, starting with the initial zoom appointment, but Miss Barney put me at ease. She listened, and explained things clearly.

What can I say; Miss Barney is a lovely caring & compassionate lady. She puts you at ease as soon as you meet her & feel comfortable talking to her. Miss Barney explains things in a very simple to understand way & I completely trust her capabilities of giving me a ‘normal’ life back. Miss Barney was so lovely right from the word go. She listened and understood and didn’t for one second make me feel rushed or pressured. She explained everything well. She put me at ease straight away.

My consultant, Olivia Barney, was amazing. Her expertise and professionalism is second to none. I think {Spire Hospital} are very lucky to have such a lovely, caring and compassionate consultant that I am sure has probably saved my life but most certainly my sanity, and just took the time to listen to me unlike my GP who to this day is still refusing to see me.
Dear Dr Barney, I wanted to say thank you for seeing me back in October 2019 at LRI. We were unsure if I had an ectopic but found a viable pregnancy. I am happy to tell you that we are blessed with the safe arrival of our baby girl on 19.06.2020. I did drop off a Christmas card and cookies just before Christmas to thank you and your team; I hope some were saved for you. Due to the current circumstances, I am unable to thank you in person but I’m hoping one day I can come and do that with baby. Again, thank you.

We can’t thank you enough for what you’ve given to us, for all your support during our journey which looked impossible for the results in few cases. This little lady it’s a miracle from god who been given to us by your angel hands.

Dr Olivia Barney was a fabulous surgeon/consultant. She understood very quickly that I was worried about every aspect of the operation and I felt completely comfortable talking to her. She saw me on several occasions explaining every step in a caring way until I felt happy to proceed. She spoke to me before the operation again to reassure me and she also came to see me as soon as I had come round. It is now 11 weeks after the operation and I feel great. I recovered very quickly and my scar is nothing short of amazing. I would not hesitate to recommend her.

Dr Olivia Barney completely understood my situation and made it possible for me to have a hysterectomy very quickly which I really appreciated. At consultation appointments I found her to be very thorough in her investigations and her friendly and open manner made her very easy to talk to. Dr Barney diagnosed & treated me when I was suffering from a very rare cesarean scar ectopic pregnancy. Her incredible skills & knowledge undoubtedly saved my life and my future fertility.
Extremely Caring, and a very very understanding Doctor, made me feel totally at ease and explained everything that was going to happen to me at our first appointment. I saw Miss Barney At Coalville for my appointment, I was very scared and in a lot of pain and Miss Barney reassured me that she would sort me out and she kept her word. I was fortunate enough to be placed on an extra theatre list and Miss Barney Administration team called me to say we have a date which meant been done sooner than expected. Even when the day came for my operation Miss Barney came and reassured me that everything would be OK, And she kept her word. At my 6 week checkup, I felt great. I was talking to Miss Barney and remember saying “I am a new woman, happier, healthier and looking back to getting back to my normal way of life!!” I owe so much to Miss Barney she is an amazing surgeon /Consultant from start to finish and even after if I have a concern, all I do is call and my questions and concerns are answered.

Miss Barney is very friendly, personable and pre surgery did explain there was no guarantee my fibroid could be treated but hoped some could be removed. Unfortunately this was not the case so I’m no further forward in my care. But she did take the time afterwards to explain my next step treatment options. Unfortunately they are not available at Spires.
